It is supported, however, for some reason, it seems your mplayer compile 
got configured for xvid 0.9.x and not 1.0.. :/

Do you have any old include files or xvid files hanging around in 
/usr/lib or /usr/local/lib and /usr/include  or /usr/local/include?
