[MPlayer-users] mplayer plugin not working

I downloaded the mplayer mozilla plugin from mozilla
http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net, compiled, and
installed it, and installed all my win32 codecs into
kplayer/usr/lib/win32 but when attempting to view
streaming audio in the browser, the rectangle in the
browser says "mplayerplugin playing mms://url_here..."
 but I dont see or hear anything.

What else do I need to do to get the mplayerplugin
working?  

BTW is there someplace in the mplayer config that I
need to explicitely declare the directory I put the
win32 codecs?  I am running knoppix live CD so my
/usr/lib is unwriteable and I would need to declare an
alternate directory on my ramdisk under my home dir.
