[MPlayer-users] ticker feature?

Hello,

is there a feature (or plugin) in mplayer to overlay the output with a 
news-ticker like scrolling text line on the bottom of the screen?
I use mplayer to display short science-related mpegs and additional 
informations would be very helpful.
Other ideas?
