I have a similar problem in terms of VIDIX, although my system is fast
enough otherwise that I don't IIRC get 'system too slow' errors with =vo
xv. What I do instead is to use -vo gl, or alternately -vo gl2; it works
just fine, and I've successfully played back fairly high-resolution
videos without losing sync while another sizeable CPU-cycle sink
(recompiling MPlayer) was running in the background.
No guarantees are provided, but you might see if either of those works
for you...
