You don't want to use gmplayer for your scenario, use the commandline
mplayer instead.
If you insist on using gmplayer, here's a hint:
Making /dev/psaux a pipe on b and using nc -l -p 12345 < /dev/psaux on a and
nc a 12345 > /dev/psaux on b should actually work. Start an X server on
b and run gmplayer on b. Then you can control the gmplayer running on b
with the mouse connected to a.
