[MPlayer-users] DVD to SVCD, subtitle problem

Hi

I'm trying to encode from a DVD to SVCD with this command line:

mencoder -sws 9 -vf scale=480:352,expand=480:576:-1:-1:1 -ofps 25 -of
mpeg -srate 44100 -af resample=44100 -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts
aspect=4/3:acodec=mp2:abitrate=192:vcodec=mpeg2video:vbitrate=800:vrc_minrate=64:vrc_maxrate=2600:vrc_buf_size=917:keyint=25:vlelim=-4:vcelim=7:trell:mbd=2:vratetol=10000000 -spuaa 4 -o svcd.mpg -slang fi dvd://1

Output quality is good, but the problem is that the rendered subtitle
(which is in the bottom black border) doesn't go away when it should,
instead the next subtitle to display paints over the previous one.

I've tried the ...expand=480:576:-1:-1:1   also without :-1:-1:1 but it
doesn't work either. The :-1:-1:1 works when encoding from avi to svcd
with the subtitle positioned in the black bottom border.

Is the solution too simple for me to understand or how can I get
rendered subtitles to work like they should?
