Not in my case, certainelly because I make mistake somewhere ;-)

I have a DVB card that have a hardware TV output that is connected to my
TV set, and I look satellite channels on it decoded by my card.
I record some video with VDR and can see the ercords with VDR through
the same output. All this is done with a remote from my armchair.
And there is a plugin for that uses mplayer to play all the stuff
mplayer can play: DVD and previously
VDR-recorded-mencoded-DVD-burned-and-stored-to-use-less-room movies,
I made by my self ;-)
I can play this movies and DVD through a matrox G550 tv-out but then I
have to connect a second wire between the TV-set and the box and my wife
said no!
