[MPlayer-users] Bugreport: avi with 5.1 sound slows down/"cannot set period"

Hi,
I have troubles playing an avi file with AC3 sound.
With -ao alsa9 -channels 6 it starts to play OK, but after a while (5
sec or so) the whole movie slows down, like in the slow-motion replay
;-).
With -ao oss -channels 5 it gives only the sound of 2 rear channels
Distro: SuSE 8.2 with all updates
Kernel: 2.4.23-ck1
