[MPlayer-users] Printing movie properties

Is it possible to get mplayer to print out the properties (like resolution, 
codec name, length, etc.) of a supported movie file to the console? I want to 
collect this information for a number of movie files and it would be very 
useful if I could have a small script simply call mplayer and parse its output 
(and even better if the mplayer binary didn't have any X dependency).
