Thanks, Moritz. Well, it works, so I think I'll stick with your solution :).

Anyway, could there be a way so I don't have to rip the whole dvd (just the 
track, chapters from the main movie)?

And just a note. I've tested your solution using:
mencoder dvd://1 -dvd-device /mnt/win_d/dvd/ -nosound -ovc xvid -xvidencopts 
bitrate=500 -o movie.avi

And movie.avi works under Linux, Windows, ... But it has about one second of 
black frames at the beginning that it hasn't before. And, when playing the 
file with mplayer, during this one second it says a lot of times:
[mpeg4 @ 0x853e4c0]vop not coded 18%

I haven't tested this too much, so it may be normal. I'll make some more 
tests later with other dvd's.

Well, if there is a way to fix this, and/or to just rip the movie part (not 
the entire dvd), or why the "cat * |mencoder -" doesn't work, I would be 
very pleased.
