[MPlayer-users] can't rip realaudio

I'd like to be able to rip (record) a one hour realaudio live
broadcast once a week. I've tried mplayer -dumpstream url. It
downloads into stream.dump. There seems no way to stop it exept
ctrl-c, but I could deal with that if it worked.

The problem. When I point realplayer at the resulting file, it gets
the station identification right, but thinks its a zero length
recording.

In using windows programs to rip realaudio, I've concluded that a
header fix up is needed at the end of the rip. Apparently, mplayer
doesn't do this, at least not if you stop it with ctrl-c. Or else its
something else, of course.

Anyone got this working? And suggestions?

Postscript. I do not want to play the stream on my linux box. But if
mplayer worked, I could make the recording process rock solid reliable
with appropriate scripts/cron jobs. The windows rip programs are just
not reliable in a hands off way - in fact they are not reliable at all
:-(.
