[MPlayer-users] Broken AVI File -- How to repair?

Hello!

I use mencoder since a long time to record TV series. Works fine, I am able to
record and encode into DivX4 at 688px width in realtime.

Now I wanted to split one of this files as I did many times before with the
same script. It simply does a "mencoder -idx big.avi -endpos 45:00 -o
part1.avi" to get the first half. The option -idx is required because the file
is bigger than 2GB, so I must rebuild the index to be able to work with it.

But this file gives an abort:

VDec: vo config request - 640 x 472 (preferred csp: Planar
YV12) VDec: using Planar YV12 as output csp (no 0)
Movie-Aspect is undefined - no prescaling applied.

Is it possible to repair such a file? I am using mencoder v0.90pre8-2.95.3
Not very new, I know, but it normally works fine, so I see no reason to change
it.

Please, be so kind and leave me some information on how to repair the file.
The best will be a sample.

Thanks a lot in advance.
