Rereading your mail I see that you don't do the actual
capture with
mencoder, so your problems won't be related to the
ODML writing code.
Are your files between 1GB and 2GB?
1.0pre4 has a known bug for OpenDML files in that size
area...

German uses a strange mixture of big- and
little-endianness: 376 is
pronounced as "Dreihundertsechsundsiebzig", i.e.
"three hundred six and
seventy". -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endianess

Usually anywhere from 2 to 4 GB (4GB being the fat
filesize limitiation). I suppose I could try a
rebuild with -noodml just for grins.

I'd still very much like to know why I cannot
concatenate AVI streams thru stdin to mencoder. The
<1GB (2.5 minute) chunks never seem to exhibit the
problem.
