[MPlayer-users] [newbie] GUIDE to mencoder (1 or 2 CD)

Hi,

my system :

Debian woody
mencoder-686 Version: 1:1.0-pre2-woody0.1

I'm a beginner on mencoder (also in DVD-->Divx) and I try to translate
DVD on 1 or 2 CD with liblavcodec. My target is to have _BEST QUALITY_
on 1 or 2 cd. I read the documentation but I found nothing about 1 or
2 CD. So I try this :

1) BITRATE CALCULATION :

For 1 cd : bitrate=700x1024x8/t (film duration in second)


2) ENCODING :

1rst pass

mencoder dvd://1 -aid 129 -oac copy -ovc lavc
-lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=bitrate:v4mv:mbd=2:trell:autoaspect:vpass=1 
-o /dev/null

2nd pass

mencoder dvd://1 -aid 129 -oac copy -ovc lavc 
-lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=bitrate:v4mv:mbd=2:trell:autoaspect:vpass=2  
-o FILM.avi

Is  it correct  ?  Has  somebody written  a guide  about  this purpose
because, even after reading the  documentation, it's a little bit hard
to tune :o)
