[MPlayer-users] linking of libavcodecs

Why doesn't the standard mplayer/mencoder build
dynamically link ffmpeg/libavcodecs instead of static
linking?

Is there a configure options to set dynamic linking of
libavcodecs?

Rebuilding mplayer is time intensive enough that
simple changes to the underlying codecs should NOT
require rebuilding mplayer/mencoder.
