Am I asking this in the wrong place or does no-one know? I was under the impression that mplayer could use the VIA CLE266 hardware to accelerate mpeg decoding, but needed the co-operation of drivers and / or X windows (v4l?) to do this. I cant find much out about this on the web (theres a fair amount of disorganised stuff for 2.4 but I run 2.6).
