thanks to Nico:

mplayer -audiofile test.ac3  -audio-demuxer 20 -rawaudio format=0x2000 test.avi 

does play external audio ac3 stream  !

Read the DOCS/HTML/en/dvd.html didn't give me that hint.
So all fine now with xvid + external ac3.
