Hi!
When I play MPEG2 videos (mainly from DVB), mplayer says this:
VIDEO:  MPEG2  720x576  (aspect 2)  25.000 fps  10000.0 kbps (1250.0 kbyte/s)
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, 16 bit (0x10), ratio: 28000->192000 (224.0 kbit)
I have a file, which is roughly 900 MB big, and it's something like 50 minutes
long.
If I calculate the average bitrate for the whole file (including both audio
and video), I get something like:
900 MB / 50 mins == 18 MB / min
18 MB / 60 secs == 0.3 MB / sec
0.3 MB * 1024 kB == 307.2 kB
307.2 kB * 8 bits == 2457.6 kbit/sec
.. and mplayer shows 10000.0 kbps for the plain video.. Can anybody explain
this? Something related to VBR nature of MPEG2?
