[MPlayer-users] UTF-8 in GUI

I am having problems with MPlayer GUI. When running (a locally compiled
MPlayer), the GUI start OK, plays movies OK, but when you either use the
'right-click' menu or open the Preferences window, all labels using non-ascii
characters disappear. You can still select items from menu, just have to
guess what are you pressing. The problem is with the UTF-8 charset which I am
using (default in FedoraCore 2) but maybe GTK doesn't. If I start with
LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8, MPlayer labels don't work. However if I use simply
LANG=cs_CZ, everything works as expected.
On the other hand, neither setting produces accurate output in non-GUI mode.
Both options produce missing accented characters on the text console (which is
set to UTF-8).
Just a note - all other GTK applications I tried work fine with
LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8.

Does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks,
Alexandr Kara
