[MPlayer-users] Playing file without index

Hi,
I have an avi file without index.
Mplayer says:

 Cannot seek in raw AVI streams. (Index required, try with the -idx switch.)

but if I try to reconstruct index, the movie stop before the end.
Even if I try
  
  mencoder movie.avi -oac copy -ovc copy

it stops at 66%
Should I try something else?
