Perhaps so, but not with any reduction in size, so there wouldn't be
any point.

I was actually thinking to myself that it should be possible just to
re-do the lossless compression on a file, possibly getting a small
improvement without any loss, as compression algorithms improve over
time.  But I've never heard of anyone doing it.
