[MPlayer-users] No 5.1 surround with Mplayer

Hallo

I recently decided to try playing a DVD in 5.1 surround through Mplayer 
but came across some problems.

Running >"mplayer dvd://1 -ao alsa1x:surround51 -channels 6" gives me 
absolutely no audio output at all, whilst running >"mplayer dvd://1 
-channels 6" gives me full background audio but leaves out the audio 
track containing all the voices of the actors (pretty weird).

I've ruled out the possibility of this being a problem with my sound 
setup as I can get 5.1 working with DVDs just fine using Xine, however I 
would prefer to use mplayer alone for my media needs.

Any ideas?
