Well...  No reason to duplicate effort...   I've already got a rather
advanced script to do the job for me.   It's attached.

In fact, I recently improved cropdetection.  It checkes crop parameters
in multiple points in the video (I set it to 10, but it's easily
increased/decreased) and it uses the most common crop parameter found.

You'll need to use a version of MPlayer after 1.0pre5, since my patch to
cropetect wasn't commited until after pre5 was released.  Either that,
or you can try to get a shell script to do the math needed to round the
crop parameters down to multiples of 16.
