[MPlayer-users] ac3 passthrough on Audigy 2 NX?

Using "MPlayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4" with an Audigy 2 NX usb card I can't get
ac3 passthrough to work with mplayer (note that it works fine with xine)

% mplayer -ao alsa:device=plughw#1.0 dvd://1

... sends PCM 48 stereo sound to the amplifier but ...

% mplayer -ac hwac3 -ao alsa:device=plughw#1.0 dvd://1

... sends the raw ac3 to the laptop's speakers. 

Someone on alsa-user said:

	When using '-ac hwac3' option, mplayer is using a hardcoded device
	that sends the ac3 stream to the iec958 device of *card 0* :-(

Is that bug fixed in cvs? Is there a workaround for my version of mplayer?
