[MPlayer-users] How to play mms asx playlists?

When I use mplayer to play an mms asx stream, it
quits between segments. Is there a good way
to keep it going to the next clip?

Alternatively I try to give it the -playlist
option, such as:

mplayer -playlist mms://someserver.org/playlist.asx

it will close and reconnect,
unfortunately starting the playlist over again
rather than playing the next item in the playlist.
(this happens on both Linux & Windows)

Windows Media Player handles this without a problem.

Is there some other way to specify this in Mplayer?
