mencoder doesn't output separate audio streams, but it encodes natively 
using 5 audio
codecs interfaces and more by means of lavc. It also has some useful 
audio filters, so
all in all I'd say mencoder can be considered an audio encoder, too, 
although not as
complete as other, more specific, tools.
