Well, they control the maximum A-V sync correction the stupid feedback
loop does per frame. In particular, -mc 0 disables all A-V sync
correction, so if there's too little or too much audio (common in
broken mpeg streams from DVD and DVB), A-V sync WILL BREAK. However on
perfect sources with just the right amount of audiop, -mc 0 is a very
good idea.
