[MPlayer-users] Intel HD audio (azalia), alsa 1.0.8 and mplayer problem

I must say at that point that I don't have sound issues with any other
program/game/name-it. Sound works fine for everything from bzFlag and
Tuxracer, to beep-media-player etc.
I'm really buffled here since this is the first time I encounter such a
problem with mplayer. Of course this is a new box so it is kinda of
beeing expected for some things not to work properly at first.
