Are you using the precompiled OS X binaries, or are you compiling  
MPlayer from scratch?

If you're using the binaries, you probably just downloaded the front  
end. The OS X binaries, if I remember correctly, come in two parts:  
the binary applications, and the graphical front-end. You probably  
just downloaded one and didn't get the other.

If you're compiling, we need more to work with. I compiled MPlayer on  
my system, both with OS X 10.3 and OS X 10.4, no problems like you're  
describing, except when I used a broken option. But, I doubt that's  
your problem. The MPlayer source should have everything in it you need.

Again, we'd need to know more about which distro of MPlayer you're  
using. Binary, or source?
