Let's keep it in one thread for now. I just thought the post before was
referring to something else as the original poster (to whom my
recommendation is: try latest CVS first).

Well, if it stopped working somewhen, try different CVS versions until
you find the patch that broke it (e.g. via binary search over CVS
snapshots first find the day that broke it).
But before, try changing the #if 0 in spudec.c, line 506 to #if 1. If
that fixes it, then the patch that fixed the StarWars DVDs broke yours.

The only case I saw (during LinuxTag) were DVDs supporting widescreen, here
you had to multply the sid that you would get with -slang by two.
Unfortunately -sid only works up to the last number that MPlayer thinks
is valid. In that case -vobsubid did help (and resulted in the same
situation as doing mplayer -dumpstream first).
