[MPlayer-users] help, framerate keeps changing

Hi,
  I'm converting DVD's to XVID to play on my iAudio X5.  I've been
experimenting a lot with mencoder's multitude of options.  What I found out
(and I have no idea why) is that the video playback is very choppy on the
X5 unless I specify '-vf filmdint=io=2997:1400' (with -ofps 14 of course). 
If I just use '-ofps 14' without the filmdint option, it plays back all
choppy like.

The problem is that my stupid DVD keeps changing framerate and I think its
causing my A/V to desync (because that filmdint=io option is expecting it
to stay at 29.97 the whole time??).

Does anyone have any ideas, or can educate me on whats going on?  Thank you
