Ok, I need more information.

Do: mencoder -vobsubout temp -sid n -v <other options> 2>&1 | tee mencoder.log
and post mencoder.log

The previous command should create temp.sub and temp.idx
post the first 20 lines of temp.idx

Do: mplayer -vobsub temp -sid n -v <other options> 2>&1 | tee mplayer.log
post mplayer.log
