Thank you very much. I installed ffdshow and all files now play in
Windows media player.
I use:
mencoder t.vob -noskip -ovc lavc -oac lavc -of avi -lavopts
vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2000 -o t.avi

It produces a very acceptable result.
My next step is getting Windows Media Encoder to convert that in to
.wmv so Window Media Streaming server can multicast it out.
According to Windows Docs, if it plays in Windows Media Player,
Windows Media Encoder can transcode it.

I will have to try the Windows Media Encoder when I get back into the
office tomorrow.

P.S. Sorry for my lack of knowledge with Windows, It is due to the
fact that most of my time is spent with Linux.
