I'm not sure whether it would help with the format conversion in this
case, but now that I've solved that problem (with mpegdemux) it looks
like a good disc authoring tool. I'll try it out next time sourceforge
isn't snafu (could be a while :-/).

BTW the main reason I chose to use mencoder for this is because it
supports custom quantisation matrices, so you can use KVCD which helps
improve quality.
