hi to the list,

i compiled mplayer from svn about two weeks ago like:

./configure --disable-mpdvdkit --enable-gui

if i dont use --disable-mpdvdkit, than libdvdread is not supported,
configure.log:

============ Checking for DVD support (libdvdread) ============
Result is: no (disabled by libmpdvdkit2)

(is this ok? should i force support of libdvdread or libmpdvdkit2 ??)

yesterday i rented a dvd ("dont come knocking" a wim wenders production)
from a professional "rent-a-dvd-shop (dont know the english word for it,
but i hope you understand, in germany it is called "videothek").

mplayer plays dvd very well, connecting to jack, everything good, but is
not able to play the wenders dvd, which is professional produced, not a
cheap copy or like that.

here is the console output running gmplayer:

a screen apears for a quarter of second, but than playback just stops.
vlc-player is able to play this dvd.

since i am an audio freak, i really dont know so much about video stuff,
so i am asking myself (and all of you!) what this issue could be related to?

the ffmpeg i also compiled myself with:

./configure --enable-shared --enable-vorbis --enable-libogg
--enable-mp3lame --disable-static --enable-faad --enable-faac
--enable-pp --enable-gpl --enable-x264 --enable-pthreads

if anyone has an idea, or if i can past more information which would
help to answer this question, please tell me.
am i missing some configure option...??

cheers,
doc
