As navaladi says, make sure xorg.conf is correct (scripts screw up sometimes),
try (re)installing newest version of the driver and if it still doesn't work,
this is a wrong list. Ask in Ubuntu or ATI forums. They will know better.
Come back if mplayer is still giving you problems after you have drivers
installed properly. :)
