Uhh, RC is one of the developers. He just might know what he's  
talking about. Besides, -dumpstream dumps data to disk as fast as  
MPlayer can get it. It doesn't bother with caches since it's not  
being played real time (or at least, that's how it acts).

As far as I can tell, there's no real way to do it. Perhaps you could  
watch resource usage by MPlayer, and have it kill MPlayer if resource  
usage falls below a certain threshold. Otherwise, don't think there's  
much else you can do.
