Just to let you know that I'm also getting the same error. I have an eMac G4 1,25Ghz, 768 MB of RAM and Mac OS X 10.3.9 with QuickTime 7.0.4 and I'm compiling mplayer from CVS with libavcodec, libavformat and libavutil.
