yes, if you use -sb 409993216 the asf header can't be read, but if you use

mencoder -v -ss 00:10:00 video1.wmv -ovc copy -oac copy -mc 0 -noskip -o video2.avi

remuxing (to avi) should work starting from position 00:10:00
