For those (like me) who don't have time or patience at the moment
to upgrade to 10.4, here's a workaround until you've upgraded:
Get the old frameworks from
<http://rapidshare.de/files/20281171/CompatFrameworks.tgz.html>
Unpack them somewhere -- but *not* in
/System/Library/Frameworks/!! -- and configure like so:
CFLAGS="-F/path/to/old/frameworks" ./configure
