[MPlayer-users] Brightness adjustment (was: Mplayer won't play dvd's)

Hi!

I reinstalled mplayer in a brand new partition on my hard disk
(the other one was maybe too full) and now I can watch
dvd movies without problems.
(Later on I'll provide a complete report of my mplayer installation
on Debian Sarge, that may be useful to others.)

However, how can I adjust brightness?
In the man mplayer it says:

----------------------------------------------------------------
The following keys are valid only when using a hardware accel-
erated video output (xv, (x)vidix, (x)mga, etc), the software
equalizer (-vf eq or -vf eq2) or hue filter (-vf hue).

              1 and 2
                   Adjust contrast.
              3 and 4
                   Adjust brightness.
----------------------------------------------------------------

When I try with 3 and 4 it doesn't seem to work.
Can you please give a suggestion?

Thanks, cheers,
Rodolfo
