[MPlayer-users] max. resolution for xv output

I wonder if the max. resolution for the xv output driver is fixed or depends 
on the individual configuration.
My problem is:

Movie-Aspect is 1.76:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.

[xv] Source image dimensions are too high: 1920x1088 (maximum is 1440x1080)
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver.

FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vf) or video output (-vo).


It says "maximum is 1440x1080".
What does this limit depend on?
