[MPlayer-users] extracting subtitles

Hi,
I am trying to extract subtitles from a dvd. The manual says I can see
which ones are available with mplayer -v.
So I did mplayer -v dvd:// but I can't see the available subtitles
anywhere. It says
"[open] number of subtitles on disk: 0" which makes no sense as the film
is in French with subtitles.
Also I get
"Please send bug report - no VTS_TMAPT ??"
So I blindly tried
mencoder dvd:// -nosound -ovc frameno -vobsubout subtitles
-vobsuboutindex 0 -sid 2 -o /dev/null
but that doesn't seem to extract the subtitles. I end up with
