What is this obsession with legal stuff!?

In france, the current legislation does not only say that 
reproductions made for strictly private usages are per definition 
legal, but several courts have confirmed that this clause even covers 
download on P2P (not upload!).

Unless you know where someone lives, which legislation applies etc, so 
cannot know if something is legal or not.
