[MPlayer-users] color srt/sub subtitles?

hello dear list users,

i wonder if it is possible to set fg/bg color for classic (old)
subtitles. i know this is possible for ass/ssa subtitles so i should
theoretically be able to convert srt/sub to ass/ssa (does anyone know
nice commandline tool for that?) and change style according to my
needs, but maybe there is a simpler solution.
