Hello.
I have a Soundblaster Audigy SE - which is a 7.1 card - as my 3rd soundcard.
This card works perfectly in stereo mode; I can play stereo files on my
front or rear speakers:
mplayer some.mp3 -ao alsa:device=plughw=2.1
gives me sound on both my rear speakers, while
mplayer some.mp3 -ao alsa:device=plughw=2.0
would play the file on the front speakers.
However, when I want to listen to a 5.1 dvd in surround mode, nothing comes
out from the rear speakers. I have tried
mplayer dvd://1 -channels 4 -ao alsa:device=plughw=2
and mplayer tells me
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 4 ch, s16le, 384.0 kbit/12.50% (ratio: 48000->384000)
Selected audio codec: [a52] afm: liba52 (AC3-liba52)
==========================================================================
AO: [alsa] 48000Hz 4ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)
Starting playback...
but I get sound only on the front speakers.
Any clue?
Thanks.
