Are you talking about the FPS changing?  If so, welcome to the wonderful 
world of variable framerate.  A lot of DVDs are like that (especially TV 
shows on DVD).

MPlayer can handle the transition just fine, though I don't know why 
it's flat out stopping.

What's the DVD?
