Really? with vobsub I mean the 2 files you create with 
mencoder -vobsubout ...
I did a small search and I find this:

Well, in every howto I read they say to use tccat/pgm2txt/others to
have subtitles in matroska. So I thought that was the only way.

What I need is how to put the subtitle format (any) of mencoder to the
matroska container.

I will search other info but if you have suggestions/links that would
be nice.

well, with "a lot of cpu" I mean compared to xvid/mp3/avi. Anyway this is
not a problem. I'm using mplayer in Debian Sid.
Another thing is that mplayer doesn't use the aspect ratio of matroska 
files. But I read somewhere that this bug has already been spotted and 
will be fixed soon.
