For 1, verify the DVD on another DVD playing Device

For 2, try playing the DVD using software that supports DVD menu system, 
such as Xine, VLC, or mplayer with dvdnav  (I'm not sure how well 
supported that last one is, but should work).  Let us know what DVD you 
are trying to watch, (title and region)... Verify that it is not one of 
the titles in this list:

For 3, if you made it past 1 and 2 and still can't play the movie on 
your computer, try replacing your DVD-ROM
