[MPlayer-users] lowres and h264

Hi. I have been having some difficulty playing a quicktime h264 file I got from
Apple's website with mplayer. MPlayer complains "The system is too slow to play
this." After I tried using the recommended lavdopts skiploopfilter=all:fast, but
it was still not enough to get the file to play correctly.

I then tried using lavdopts lowres=1. The file played at the correctly without
any speed problems and took up considerably less cpu power. However, mplayer was
only playing the upper-left corner of the video (instead of scaling the movie
down, it cropped it). Is this normal, something I incorrectly configured, or a
bug? I tried the lowres option with a normal divx/avi file and it scaled the
file down correctly. I am using MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.3-DFSG-free on a system
running Debian testing on ppc.

Here's the output:
$ mplayer animusic2dvd_m480p.mov -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1
